Undergraduate students are encouraged to apply for the opportunity to conduct research in the Andreana Lab.
The B.S. degree in Chemistry at Wayne State University has an undergraduate research component in which you have the opportunity to perform original research on a variety of exciting projects. Note that B.A. students may also take advantage of research opportunities.
Undergraduate research is the most important part of your degree:
· A significant advantage in the job market. Original research hones problem solving skills and introduces you to new technique. A letter from a professor who has worked closely with you in a research environment carries a significant importance.
· You can potentially receive grant money for undergraduate research. There are financial institutions which seek the best candidates for scientific research. Having a summer fellowship to learn various aspects of science allows an individual to grow immensely and expand their horizons.
· A summer job. Due to the fact that fellowships are highly competitive, other means for financial support are available for those students who are ambitious, motivated and willing to work extra hard.
Undergraduate students wanting to conduct research in the Andreana Labs must:
(1) Schedule an interview with Prof. Andreana
(2) Provide Prof. Andreana with their most recent transcript
(3) Provide Prof. Andreana with an updated CV/Resume
(4) Provide Prof. Andreana with a formal schedule (should include classes, work and other misc.)
(5) Due to an enormous increase in applications from undergraduate students
seeking to conduct research in the Andreana Labs,
Prof. Andreana asks
that all students seek research support from the Administration. Refer to
(1).
