Introduction Our research focuses on molecular structure and dynamics of surfaces and condensed phase interfaces. Two complementary aspects of our research program are (1) development of new surface-selective laser spectroscopy techniques and (2) application of these techniques to study molecular structure (e.g., conformation), organization (orientation, self-assembly, packing), and, most importantly, ultrafast dynamics. We are interested in systems important in life sciences, nano- and bio-technology, and material science.

News JACS paper A full paper reporting our recent development of the ultrasensitive Heterodyne-detected Sum-Frequency Generation (HD-SFG) spectroscopy technique has just appeared in the Journal of the American Chemical Society (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2008, 130, 2271-2275).
JACS Communication A brief report of our recent work on molecular conformation at nanoparticle surfaces has appeared as a communication in the Journal of the American Chemical Society (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2006; 128 pp. 14244 - 14245). The expanded and more detailed follow-up paper has appeared in the Journal of Physical Chemistry C as a contribution to the Kenneth B. Eisenthal festschrift (J. Phys. Chem. C 2007, 111, 8925-8933).
