Support Service & Service Charges
In addition to maintaining the labs and the departmental network operational we daily troubleshoot user problems throughout the chemistry department. User base includes faculty, staff, grad students, post docs. Support varies in scope and may include a simple few minute instruction of a user on how to complete a task to major system crashes requiring complete rebuilding of systems, reconfiguration, etc. The major disasters typically occur on computers driving critical instruments. In those cases close collaboration with the manufacturers is required in order to reconfigure the software to the optimal specs required for particular research application.
In cases of severe computer/server troubles requiring immediate attention, (especially cases where uptime is vital) after hours servicing is never a problem.
External usage of computer personnel is possible (University, External, Corporate). Contact CIF Director, Dr. David M. Coleman for information, fee structure, etc.
