The Central Instrument Facility maintains a collection of shared modern 'small' instruments for use in both research and teaching situations. Training is primarily on an as-needed basis. Use of the instruments is via. reservation using the Departmental Resource Manager. Usage fees (minimal) are collected to offset the cost of various operational expenses.
Current Instruments Include:
- Varian/Digilab Excalibur 3100 High Resolution
FT-IR with NIR, Far-IR, and Varian 400 UMA FT-IR Microscope capability.
- Varian/Digilab Scimitar FT-IR.
- JASCO FP-6500 Spectrofluorometer.
- JASCO V-570 UV/VIS/NIR Spectrometer w/ integrating sphere and other accessories.
- Hewlett Packard 8452A Diode Array Spectrophotometer.
- Perkin-Elmer 341 automated Polarimeter
- Varian 50 Bio UV/VIS Spectrophotometer
- Perkin-Elmer AAnalyst 700 Atomic Absorption Spectrometer with flame and graphite furnace capability.
- Numerous other instruments for teaching and research

Signup for usage of the designated small instruments is via. the CIF Resource Management System. External samples or instrument usage is possible (University, External, Corporate) Contact CIF Director, Dr. David M. Coleman for information, details on fee structure, etc.
