Undergradaute
Research
Positions for WSU
undergraduates typically start in the late spring. If you wish to work
in the lab during the fall term, I usually require students to work
over the preceding summer.
Graduate
Studentships
Several projects are
available for new Ph.D. students this
year. If you are
currently enrolled in the WSU graduate program you may contact Prof.
Feig to set up a time to talk about the specific
projects. Students who are not
currently enrolled at WSU need to apply and be accepted to the Ph.D.
program. An online application can be found on the chemistry
department web page.
Post-doctoral
Positions
Two positions are
currently available for in the laboratory. One position is in the area
of RNA-protein interactions, studying the role of Hfq and small
non-coding RNAs in post-transcriptional gene regulation and bacterial
stress responses. The second position is in the area of physical
biochemistry, looking at RNA structural rearrangements using ITC, DSC,
CD, fluorescence and single molecule FRET, the latter in collaboration
with Prof. David Rueda's Lab. Qualified applicants will have a
Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology or
related area and a track record of high quality research as
evidenced by significant publications resulting from your prior work.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are expected and the
ability to work in a group atmosphere. Prior experience with RNA
biochemistry or biophysics is desired but not absolutely
required. Interested applicants should send an email to Prof.
Andrew Feig at afeig@chem.wayne.edu.
Please include a CV, a complete bibliography and the names/phone
numbers/email addresses of at least 3 individuals willing to write
letters of recommendation on your behalf.
Research Technician Positions
There is an immediate
opening for a full-time research technician in the lab. This position
requires a B.S or M.S. in chemistry or biochemistry and the ability to
work independently in a group environment. The successful
applicant will conduct projects under the supervision of the PI an
other lab members and be responsible for routine aspects of the lab's
day-to-day operation. Prior experience in a research laboratory,
excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work
in a group atmosphere are expected of the
successful applicant. If you are interested
in this position, please contact Prof. Feig at afeig@chem.wayne.edu and provide a
