Arranging a Visit

Faculty and students at neighboring schools are invited to visit the Department of Chemistry at any time. Please contact one of the graduate recruiters listed below to make arrangements. Visitors will view the facilities and participate in appointments with appropriate faculty members as well as with graduate students in the department.

The Wayne State University Department of Chemistry is located about 3 miles north of the heart of downtown Detroit, Michigan. The WSU main campus is situated just south of Interstate 94 (the Ford Freeway), and is between the Lodge Freeway (M10) on the west and Interstate 75 on the east. The Chemistry Department is located at 5101 Cass Ave., Detroit, MI, 48202, with the main entrance on the east side of the building. Visitor's parking is available in a paid structure (#6) across the street (Putnam Ave.) from the Chemistry Department.

Follow these directions to the WSU Department of Chemistry from several different routes.

FROM THE LODGE FREEWAY (M10):

Proceeding south toward downtown Detroit:
Exit at Forest/Warren. Turn left (east) at the first set of lights at the top of the exit onto Forest. Go straight through 3 lights to Cass Ave. Turn left at Cass Ave. and go 3 blocks to Putnam. Turn right onto Putnam Ave. Park in Structure #6 on the right. Walk 1 block west to Cass Ave. Cross Cass Ave. to get to the Chemistry Building.

Proceeding north away from downtown Detroit:
Exit at Forest/Warren. Turn right (east) at the lights at the top of the exit onto
Forest. Go straight through 3 lights to Cass Ave. Turn left at Cass Ave. and go 3 blocks to Putnam. Turn right onto Putnam Ave. Park in Structure #6 on the right. Walk 1 block west to Cass Ave. Cross Cass Ave. to get to the Chemistry Building.

FROM THE CHRYSLER FREEWAY (I-75):

Proceeding south toward downtown Detroit:
Exit atWarren Ave. Follow the service drive to the first light (Warren). Turn right onto Warren Ave. Go through 4 lights and cross over Woodward Ave. At the next intersection turn right onto Cass Ave. Turn right onto Putnam Ave. Park in Structure #6 on the right. Walk 1 block west to Cass Ave. Cross Cass Ave. to get to the Chemistry Building.

Proceeding north away from downtown Detroit:
Exit atWarren Ave. Follow the service drive to the first light (Warren). FROM THE FORD FREEWAY (I-94):

Proceeding east toward Port Huron:
Exit at Trumbull Ave. Turn right onto Trumbull Ave., then left onto Warren Ave at the first light. Go through 4 lights and turn left at Cass Ave. then right at Putnam Ave. Park in Structure #6 on the right. Walk 1 block west to Cass Ave. Cross Cass Ave. to get to the Chemistry Building.

Proceeding west toward the Detroit Metro Airport:
Exit at Woodward Ave. Go straight on the service drive, then turn left onto Cass Ave., go 3 blocks, followed by a left onto Putnam Ave. Park in Structure #6 on the right. Walk 1 block west to Cass Ave. Cross Cass Ave. to get to the Chemistry Building.

FROM THE JEFFRIES FREEWAY (I-96):

Proceeding east toward downtown Detroit:
Take I-94 East or I-75 North. Follow the directions above for I-94 East or I-75 North.

FROM THE WINDSOR TUNNEL:

Turn right onto Jeffereson Ave., then take Jefferson Ave. to 375 North, then I-75 North. Follow the directions above for I-75 North.

FROM THE AMBASSADOR BRIDGE:

Take I-75 North to Lodge (M10) North. Follow the directions above for Lodge Freeway North.
