High harmonic generation (HHG) probes of molecular dynamics
We plan to pursue this study in two directions:

1. Applying high harmonic generation and strong field ionization probe to monitoring the details of coupled electronic and nuclear dynamics. The study will focus on visualizing ultrafast (femtosecond) electron rearrangement during a curve crossing /conical intersection, where Oppenheimer-Born approximation breaks down.
2. Using high harmonic generation to study the attosecond electronic dynamics of the ions (electron hole) while the electron is away in the continuum.

In N2O4, large amplitude vibration switches electronic states.[1]
