Dr. Perera joined the Lumigen Instrument Center as a Postdoctoral fellow in 2019 to share his expertise in materials chemistry research. His expertise includes structural characterization of inorganic solid-state materials using powder X-ray diffraction data (Rietveld and pair distribution function analyses), optical characterization of luminescent materials, and high-temperature solid-state synthesis. In his current capacity, he focuses on scientific researches that utilize photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS and UPS) and powder X-ray diffraction to characterize materials including powders, alloys, thin films, etc. His responsibilities include XPS and UPS method development, data interpretation, and assisting and training users on photoelectron spectrometer and powder X-ray diffractometers.
