Congratulations Dr. Keerthi Senevirathne !!!

Wayne State University's Chemistry Department is pleased to announce their 1000th Ph.D. graduate. Since the onset of the Ph.D. Chemistry Graduate Program in 1945 by Neil E. Gordon and Herbert C. Brown, this department has grown an enormous amount led by the multitudes of highly trained graduate students that have contributed substantially to our departmental community and the surrounding chemical community as well.

Dr. Senevirathne is a native of Sri Lanka with a B.S. degree from University of Kelaniya (1st class honors). He joined our program in 2003 where he worked with Prof. Stephanie Brock on his dissertation research entitled "Synthesis, Characterization and Assembly of Metal Pnictide Nanoparticles, and Evaluation of Their Physicochemical (Catalytic, Magnetic, and Semiconducting) Properties". Keerthi plans to continue on in Prof. Brock's lab as a postdoctoral associate for the time being. He has two published papers to date, continues to be an active member of PLU, and has won both poster and oral presentation awards at our annual WSU symposia (2005 & 2006).

Prof. Brock is very pleased to note that not only is he the 1000th Ph.D. to graduate from Chemistry at WSU, he is also the 10th Ph.D. to graduate from her group.
