Welcome To The Pflum Lab |
| Research Interests, Research in the Pflum laboratory centers on bioorganic studies of peptides and proteins using tools from synthetic chemistry, physical organic chemistry, biochemistry, and cell biology. We are interested in characterizing and manipulating the interactions and chemical modifications of proteins that bind small molecules and/or DNA. The projects particularly focus on protein small molecule and protein DNA complexes known to regulate transcription. Our long term goal is to understand and manage the transcriptional component of biological events like cancer development, viral infection, and human metabolism by dissecting at the atomic level protein complexes regulating transcription.
